Why did my 9 year old son use my husbands credit card to buy books from Amazon?

because he not being supervised while on the computer and he needs to be taught a few lesson , including not to touch things that aren’t he’s – right from incorrect- lessons on steeling – etc
It sounds like he just wanted to act like an adult and order something random. Maybe it was a gift for dad? Either way, he should not have access to your credit cards.
It happens. Clarify to your son that the library has plenty of books about plumbing and every thing else, and it’s free, nobobdy gets hurt.
Maybe because he was bored and needed something to do.
