i don’t know, hardy boys. that was a excellent one
DR. SUESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say Harry Potter. It is simple to read and it keeps children’s interest.
Harry Potter,Chronicles of Narnia,& Small House On the prairie…
i like clifford
i named my third daughter after emily-elezibeth
My small brother really liked the Time Warp Trio, about three boys who get this magic book that takes them around to diffrent points in time. He also liked Philip Pullmans I Was a Rat, a spin on the ancient cinderella tale.
The Box Car Children
Try the Ralph S. Mouse Books by Beverly Cleary. There are 3 of them. The Mouse and the motorcycle, Runaway Ralph, and Ralph S. Mouse. They are fantastic books. I read them when I was small, my 11 year ancient read them over and over, and now my 6 year ancient is reading them. They may be ancient, but they are classics. Really anything by Beverly Cleary is a excellent choice.
When I was that age (not so long ago) I really liked the Animorph series (I would suggest that one for boys) and the Heartland Series (for girls), but either series could be read by any kid.
Animorphs is about 5 kids that are given the power to turn into any animal they want by an alien. They have to save the world from evil aliens.
Heartland is about a girl who’s mother dies and leaves her to take care of the horse farm they own. She learns to make unmanageable horses, into cooler horses, and heals herself over time. Really touching.
Arthur and Clifford the Huge Red Dog
Narnia or harry potter. I also loved the children’s classics when I was 6; alice in wonderland, snow white, the small mermaid etc..
I would have to say that the Chronicles of Narnia have to be the best all-around SERIES of books for single-digit-midgets. I feel that Harry Potter, although fantastic for anyone over 11 or 12, deals with far too many dark subjects for the younger crowd. Although CoN (Chronicles of Narnia) teaches about morality and doing the right thing, it never gets “scary” like Potter or even TLotR (The Lord of the Rings).
As an addition, my oldest (now 11) absolutely ADORED the Junie B. Jones series of books, but they’re too “girlie” for boys.
That’s certainly Harry Potter.
try margaret l’engle…she reads for kids a small older but smart younger ones can also follow along. she was my favorite.
The boxcar children, Babysitter’s club, Sweet Valley Twins, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Animorphs, Time Warp Trio, A-Z Mysteries, Magic Tree House….
I have to second Southern Bell….Beverly Cleary’s Ramona books are also excellent reading..and there are several where Ramona is in that age bracket. The Henry Huggins books rock to, although the illustrations will probably be a small ancient fashioned.
The Boxcar Children Series by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
series of unfortunate events.
these books are fantastic and so creatively and cleverly written. they also define the words within the text which is fantastic- teaches new words & phrases.
my daughter likes them and so do I ..she also likes the harry potter series. she just turned 9 but she has been reading both series since age 5-6.
