I agree with the person who said to find publishers in Writer's Market. You can also find the address and phone number of the publisher on the back of the title page of books like the one you want to publish. They usually have info with the copyright information. If you call the switchboard, you can ask them what their submission policy is. Usually they will tell you the name of an editor or assistant who will want to see a query letter. (Most will not want to see the whole book.)

For advice on how to write a query letter, read this article:

Unless you want to self-publish your book, in which case you must assume all responsibility for the results as well as for all of the expenses involved, it will be very difficult for you to find a mainstream publisher willing to buy your book. As the first answerer suggested, purchase a copy of "Writer's Market" which will provide you much valuable information regarding the publishing process, as well as with lists of publishing companies interested in children's literature. Mainstream publishers rarely (or never) accept unsolicited manuscripts, so doubtlessly you will need to employ a literary agent to represent you in the process; you will find agents listed, too, in the book. However, if you are previously unpublished and unknown in the literary community, you must be prepared to be rejected, unfortunately -- even those authors who are currently writing best-sellers often experienced rejections in the past. I have self-published two novels through Xlibris ( ) if you would be interested in exploring that possibility. Xlibris is a subsidiary of Random House and is legitimate, although their books by amateur writers are not truly respected in the publishing world. Additionally, you will need to market your own book, paying for the company's marketing material if you prefer to go that route. Publishing packages can range from about $500 to many thousands depending upon what you want, what corrections you make, and which "add-ons" you desire. You will be able to have much control over your book, including the selection of fonts, the creation of your cover, and illustrations. I have been pleased with the results; mine are adult novels, however. The easiest way to succeed in selling your project is to be a celebrity! Nevertheless, good luck with whatever you do!

You need to get a copy of Writer's Market and look through it or search up on the internet for Children's Authors. Find a few near where you live and search them up on the internet. You need to make sure that they are good publishers, you like them and they are what you are looking for, vice versa. If something seems fishy, ask several people about them. Now for a children's book, I don't know if you need a query letter, or what part of the manuscript you send. This site offers a tutorial or something of the sort on how to publish a children's book. I hope that this helps you!
