It is the The Small Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery. It’s one nice book.
“You know when one is sad likes to see sunsets. Were you sad then on the day of forty-four sunsets?”
Picture books, or just kid-lit?
Herge has written more than 10 children’s books, each of which features the adventures of Tintin, a young explorer. Each book is about 60-100 pages, with lots of drawings.
“The Small Prince,” Saint-Exupery.
Hugh Lofting has written many excellent books, with “Dr. Dolittle” titles.
“Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians,” Brandon Sanderson, is fantastic, very amusing, about a young boy wizard who lives with normal foster parents, and then is “rescued” by his wizardly grandfather for adventures.
Personally, would go with a mixture of Herge (maybe 5), Saint-Exupery, Sanderson, and about three Loftings.
p.s. Depending on your age, C. S. Lewis’ “Chronicles of Narnia” and even his “The Fantastic Divorce” could be appropriate. Or, if you are at the younger side of the calendar, “The Small Engine that Could” would be excellent. Remember that people are more different from 5 to 7 or 9 to 11, than e.g. 22 to 24, etc. People develop more when they are younger. Championing your “inner sense” or “inner child” like, kindness, truth, purity, and helping heal any rage, dread, etc., is what your parents try to do, and you can help them. This helps develop your personal awareness and soul.
“Alice’s Adventures in the Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll
“Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll
“Eragon” or the Inheritance book series by Christopher Palaolini
I’m sorry, that were only what I’ve loved in semi-children’s literature.
Through the rug by Jill Vanderwood.

Author of “The Elf and the Princess”
and “Distress in the Elf City”
