Moms: What type of children’s books do you enjoy reading to your kids?
ByAxel questioned:
I’m going to make a bunch of children’s books that are not lame. I need some input from those awesome mothers who read to their kids. What are some names of books you have bought or delight in reading to your kids? Do you prefer rhyming books with a rhythm or non-rhyming books. Any input is very helpful. Thanks

I just got a book that I thought would be excellent on bullying, and how to deal with bullies, for my preschoolers. And it was horrible. It didnt teach a less on at all.
Junie B Jones books are on my 8 year ancient daughter’s favorite books list….we are currently reading Marley and Me, it’s cute.
my daughter likes Dr. Seuss, rhyming books, and she also likes books about animals. i read to her 2 to 3 times a day.
My kids really delight in the Barenstein bears books!
Rhyming books are for non-reading kids, it is more fun for them to listen to. Once they advance non-rhyming with associated pictures help them along. My daughter really enjoys books with animals and anything Dr. Seuss(she is 17 mths). But her taste in books changes weekly so I reckon a well thought out and illustrated book will always have a market.
I prefer books that have rhyming, they are more fun to read. Dr. Seuss is really my favorite. Those books are fun and silly.
My daughter likes Max and Ruby books , as well as Disney tales like Winnie the Pooh (the honestly ancient ones) and the Small Mermaid. Those are all non-rhyming, but I do read her a Goldenbook called Small Mommy that rhymes… She likes them all.
Hi! My son likes when I read Dr. Seuss books (especially Green Eggs and Ham), Thomas tales, Curious George, Disney, and animal books to him. He also likes his book that is a tale with his name and family members in it! Reading times are fantastic times in our house!
MJ
Jane Eyre
Fahrenheit 451
some Anne Rice books
etc.
My daughter is nearly 4 and the books she likes best are:
Maisy (they are small and cute. they don’t really have a lesson to them, just a simple plot. maisy wants to bake. she gets the ingredients. she bakes. she eats. Its simple enough for her to follow)
She likes books where she can find things int he pictures.
books about baby animals.
princesses.
she likes dr. seuss book, but doesn’t follow the tale yet.
