How old were your kids when you started reading to them?
ByMelissa H questioned:
I’ve been reading to my 5 week ancient for a couple weeks now… I am wondering if that’s too early. I like doing it, and will continue… I was just wondering what others did with their kids.

I don’t reckon there’s an age when it’s “too early”. It can’t harm them so why not? I reckon it’s perfectly fine to read to a 5 week ancient
You should start while in the womb still. Its never too early, keep ‘em away from that blasted TV though. His mind will be mush by the time he’s five.
I lock my kid in his small cell in the basement, and feed raw chicken liver to him from a hole in the door. (you questioned what I do with my kid)
eight months and 24 days…
still in my stomach
I have read to my child every day since the day he was born. It is never too early and gives the child a jump start on reading, reasoning, and learning.
Keep it up!
I reckon your doing a fantastic thing and that’s reading to your child keep it up most people now just plonk there children in front of the TV. I’ve been a nanny for many years and I’ve always found that you have a special time when you read to a child how ever small and as baby grows it’ll broaden his/hers imagination which so many children don’t have any more. your not mad your fantastic it’s never to early to pick up a book Plus it’s fantastic to have a tale just b4 you go to bed.
We started reading to our kid the day we brought her home.
She didn’t know what a TV was until she was in kindergarten
She was reading fluently at 4.
Hide your television.
That’s wonderful that you are reading to your 5 week ancient. Continue with that and you are sure to instill a like of books in him. I read to my daughter (now 2-1/2) while she was still in the womb and she Likes reading now. She’s even beginning to learn to read at a very young age. Plus, reading books is a fantastic way to bond with your child. It also helps them to associate your voice with pleasant times. What a wonderful mother you are!!!
Hello there, I did it too when my son was that age,as it’s never too early to start, plus you are enjoying it just like i did, so excellent for you keep up the excellent work
I started even before he was born. It is never to early to read to your children.
That’s when my mom read to me.
I started reading when my oldest was still in my womb. I haven’t stopped since. When my oldest was groundbreaking new I’d hold him in the rocking chair and read out loud from one of my own novels. He didn’t know the difference. He’d just sit and stare at me.
Both of my boys Like books! And I’m pregnant with the third. He gets read to every night while I’m reading to the other two.
never too early, it starts out just being the sound of your voice in a gentle tone.
It’s never too early. I do not have children, but we read tales to my niece when she was just couple weeks ancient- she loved the bonding, and started reading and writing when she turned 3.
The earlier you start, the better. Kudos to you for reading.
at about 6 months when they can sit up and hold things…
